Tonight’s the night. I’ve got the script for the first short film I’ll be making (with a lot of help from my friends) on November 21st all written in my head, but tonight I’m going to commit it to paper. Then my girlfriend and I will start reading the dialog out loud to see how it sounds and I’ll start setting up the locations, shots, SFX, etc. It’s going to be a fun process. It will be a lot of work, but I know it’s going to be rewarding.
I’ve been thinking of ways to expand it to a full internet series (5-6 5 minute episodes), but we’ll see how the reaction to the first installment is first. If more people think it sucks sweaty unwashed monkey nuts than like it, then I’ll move on to the next project. If people are digging this first installment as much as I do when it plays in my head, then I’ll continue with the story line. The plan is to get enough viewers to get sponsers/advertising. The Amazon Associates Program is good (click on a link. It'll open in another window), but right now I'm paying my cast and crew with BBQ take out. Bringing in some ads wouldn't hurt (HaHa)
I’ve been working with Sony Vegas Platinum Edition to do the digital video editing. It’s a kick ass program so far. One of the things I’ll be working on next is how to green screen. I can’t afford locations, so if the series continues I’m going to have to go out and shoot footage or different areas and/or buy stock footage in order to continue filming. Then I’ll set up some green screen upstairs (or in the backyard if there’s going to be blood FX….don’t want to mess up my girlfriend’s carpets HaHa) and film some of it there.
I’ll keep you updated (assuming that I’m not the only one who reads this blog!!!!) and let you know when the first installment is up on the site. That should be no later than the first week of December given shooting on 11/21/08 and giving myself time to edit correctly.
My directorial/production debt will be titled After Night Falls. There will be blood and some violence, so viewers beware!!
